ASK!

Hello BOLD friend!

Two and a half years ago I became a part of the Women’s Business League (WBL),  a community where powerhouse women connect, grow and prosper. I joined shortly after launching my business because I knew I needed to surround myself with a group of individuals who could support and guide me as I leapt into the wild new adventure of being an entrepreneur! It is by far one of the single most important things I did… finding my people and pulling a chair up to the table where big things were happening!

WBL and I share some core values… connection being at the top of both our lists. This isn’t just a tagline or a sales pitch for either of us… it is something we both live. For me it’s about building relationships and connecting in authentic ways. For WBL, it’s about creating spaces and opportunities for those relationships to happen! I have built my team with women I met around the WBL table and I am succeeding as an entrepreneur because of this incredible group.

One thing I love about our bi-weekly chapter meetings is the regular practice of connecting. It is ingrained in everything we do and is the way in which we begin each meeting. It would be easy to jump into the agenda, yet each time we sit around the table, we start by connecting. It’s called “THE FRAME” and it’s a series of prompts that opens the space for us to be seen and to fully see each other. This looks like this,

  1. Introduce Yourself
  2. Share a WIN ~ What are you celebrating?
  3. An ASK!

Why do I love this practice so much? With these three questions we can show up fully for ourselves and in service to others! What is really happening here?

  • SHOW UP! Share who you are and what lights you up! BE SEEN! BE BOLD! Be unapologetically YOU with all the confidence in the world! So, even though we know each other, we introduce ourselves every single time!
  • Celebrate your successes! Focussing on what is working, what you’ve accomplished creates momentum for the good stuff. This practice of celebration or gratitude gathers the kind of energy needed to continue forging ahead!
  • An ASK! This one is one of the most challenging things to get good at… asking for what you need. Yet, this is one of the most important practices for an entrepreneur to master. ASK FOR WHAT YOU NEED! So, we make it a regular practice to normalize asking! We ask for support, help with a challenge, feedback, referrals, introductions and resources. Be specific and BOLD! ASK!

After our last meeting, where I witnessed a room full of incredible, badass women, each one a powerhouse in their industry, ASK for what they need… I thought, “THIS, we all need more of THIS!”

So, your Mindful Mini invitation for the second week of January is ASK! Get really, really good about asking for what you need and want. Ask for help, support, guidance, feedback, and resources. Ask at work, at home, in your neighborhood, with your friends and with your family. JUST ASK! Ask for help figuring out what’s for dinner or with grocery shopping! Ask for an introduction to that potential new client. Ask for the number of the electrician your neighbor used so you can finally get the garage door opener fixed. Ask your bestie for help with the kids so you can go to that mindfulness class you’ve been longing to attend. Ask to talk when you need support. Ask your kids to unload the dishwasher or your partner to walk the dog.

JUST ASK! Ask early and often. Resist the temptation to feel that people in your life should really be offering… and simply ask! Ask unapologetically! Know what we know in the Women’s Business League… we were never meant to do it alone, we need support to be successful and the ASK is an essential part of connecting! So ASK! You are so worth it!

Yours in heart,

Kelly Driscoll
